Black Food Truck Friday

I’m often okay with being bored on the weekend but last Friday I wasn’t so I googled “food truck Friday” and saw a few scattered around Charlotte. I scrolled down a bit a saw that there was a Black food truck Friday not far from I was at. I decided to go, it on Trade St. near JCS University, and as I drove up it looked like a decent crowd. People with kids, people with dogs… like me and majority of the people were Black. I had my lil baby Peaches and we had a nice time. There were booths with people selling jewelry as well as other goods. I actually got information to get me a booth to sell my art and copies of my books. Speaking of art there were several murals hanging on the wall behind everything of famous Black people.
The bad thing is that they were closing up pretty much when I got there. They advertised until 10 pm but it ended at 9pm. There was only two actual food trucks. One was completely out of food, Endless Soulfood & Catering. The other was charging $25 dollars for plate with two pieces of fried fish, fried shrimp, and it looked like rice underneath but when I heard $25 I didn’t even care to ask! They had a plate with 3 proteins and I definitely wasn’t inquiring about that either.
So, since I couldn’t get food and I was starving I decided to get dessert. Yum. There were three food trucks with sweets! Shadez Of Flavor had cakes so I got strawberry cheesecake which was excellent. (@50Shadezofflavor on IG) I also got flavored popcorn… Pina colada, but I wanted to try banana pudding flavor and she was out. It was okay, an acquired taste maybe. The second truck I got a dessert was a truck from Raleigh, NC called Magnificent Concessions (919-219-6223). This truck was interesting!! They had funnel cakes but I went with funnel cake fries which came in a large cup, hot with a side of butter cream icing to pour or dip. After I ordered that I saw something called “Kool-aid pickles”. Yes, I said what I said and I tried them and they were BANGING!! Two flavors: fruit punch and peach mango. Both were good. So basically it’s dill pickle spears soaked in kool-aid for two weeks. They had deep fried pizza and s’mores on the menu!!
After Peaches and I left there we went downtown and I got a gyro from a food truck there and just walked around a bit. All in all it was a decent Friday night in Charlotte, NC for me.

He ran out of food so it must have been good😭
