I have never been one to like movies that are gory. Gory and scary are two different things. Gory would be the Walking Dead while scary would The Exorcism of Emily Rose, which is in my top 5 for scary movies! I decided to watch Spiral: From the Book of Saw without seeing any previews or trailers. I did not know that it would have two of my most favorite actors: Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson, a delightful surprise. I did watch Saw 1-3 but after that that Gore was just too much for me. I am pleased to more movies starring Black lead actors but the are not necessarily “Black” movies. It seemed for years Hollywood thought only white males made good lead actors in action and thriller movies but that isn’t real life. There are Black FBI, police, CIA, detectives, and military which would made good characters for movies. I wish my uncle would tell me some of his Army Ranger stories from the 80s!! It’s a good movie. I’m giving it 5 stars, so make sure you watch Spiral!
