It is a sad day for the world. A girl missing. A boy hiding and not talking to police. A girl found dead. A boy on the run. Social media sleuths find more evidence than police does. This is a sad day for the world.
I truly feel like if the police had picked up on the signs at the traffic stop then Gabrielle Petito would still be alive. She was in distress, visible distress that was ignored by the police. I am not sure if anyone else paid attention in the video when the police stated that the witness who called in said that Gabby was the aggressor but when I watched the CNN video after the body was found the couple who called the police said they told the police they saw him slap her but the police charged her with assault. Is no one going to question why the police sided with the male in the incident? Clearly favoritism for their own likeness.
Not only did those police make mistakes but the police handling the missing persons case made mistakes as well. Of course in their mind they didn’t. They probably feel like they were following the rules of law which brings me to the whole reason I am writing this: laws need to be changed. We are letting politicians distract us with covid-19, war, racism, and terrorism that isn’t in our country. The laws need to be changed. It should not take a person dying for the laws that were created over 400 years ago to be changed! Take my word on this they will come out with a new law after this. The Gabby Petito law which will give police the option to charge a person with a crime even though “no crime has been committed”. But a crime was committed… Laundry with held vital evidence or information leading to the whereabouts of a missing person. So did his parents who also need to be charged with a crime! Like, it blew my mind how long it took police to get a warrant. It literally blew my mind that they didn’t take him in for questioning. If the “African American” world… The Black world, you can not refuse to talk to police.
This world we live in, this country we live in is a vortex of contradiction. I truly hope they find Laundry and that he and his parents are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I hope that our elected officials realize that they need to focus on our laws, our police, our children, our communities instead of those in foreign lands. We as American people work hard and believe in our country and we just need our Government to believe in us and do right by us.
